I can remember when Ben, Liz and Dorian moved in next door. It was the short window of Austin temps when you could have the windows open. I could hear Dorian at night pleading or rather demanding for mi mi’s in his raspy little voice. (Wanting to breastfeed). My fondest memories are of the sweet little blonde boy showing up at our front door often to play with Bella. He was a charismatic boy and he and Bella and many of the other neighborhood kids ran around naked, carefree with happy abandon. They eventually graduated to clothes and ding dong ditch. I also remember watching little Judah trying to keep up with all the big kids just like Bella had when she was his age. We shared a bond through the joy of Habibi’s Hutch and Judaism with the Kweller’s and Aaron participated in Dorian’s Bar Mitvah service with great honor. As they grew older and the Kweller’s moved, we weren’t in contact as much but we still followed Dorian on social media and watched as he blossomed into an amazing teenager with such a beautiful mixture of Ben and Liz. We loved hearing his music come out and I had played his new song Hickey for Aaron on Sunday before his tragic death and were so excited and happy for him. Dorian touched many people’s lives and he was loved and will be missed by Emma, Maddie, Bella, Aaron and I.
